Associate Professor in Athens Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She works at the 2nd Pulmonary Medicine Department of Attikon University Hospital (Head Professor Spyros Papiris)
She completed her fellowship in Pulmonology at the 3rd Department of Pulmonary Diseases, Sismanoglion General Hospital, Athens (Head Dr. V. Polychronopoulos), in Critical Care, Reanimation Médicale, Hôpital Universitaire “Cochin”, Paris France (Professeur JF Dhainaut) and in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH, USA. (Professor Dr. Atul C. Mehta). She obtained her PhD at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Professor H. Giamarellou). She is the author of more than 100 peer-review articles, 18 chapter-books and participates yearly in Graduate and Postgraduate courses in Pulmonary Medicine and Internal Medicine for students and fellows. Since 2013 with Professor Spyros Papiris and Professor Demosthenes Bouros from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Greece they organize twice per year (in Athens and Thessaloniki) the Seminar on Interstitial Lung Diseases. She has special interest in interstitial lung diseases and in rare diseases of the lungs. Her clinical research focuses on rare diseases such as pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and a-1 antitrypsin deficiency in collaboration with European centers of excellence such as the Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich ( Professor M. Griese) and the University of Marburg , Germany (Dr Timm Greulich, Dr Martina Veith), the University of Pavia ( Professor I. Ferrarotti) and the University of Lyon (Professeur J-F Mornex), on sarcoidosis ( Dr Natalia Rivera, Prof. J. Grunewald) Karolinska University, Stockholm, Sweden and on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and more specifically the study of Greek adult and pediatric patients with suspected genetic pulmonary fibrosis in collaboration with the team of Professor Bruno Crestani and Professor Caroline Kannengiesser in Hôpital Bichat, Université Paris Diderot, Sorbonne Paris Cité, Paris, France and Dr Nadia Nathan from the Pediatric Pulmonology Department and Reference Center for Rare Lung Diseases RespiRare, Armand Trousseau Hospital, AP-HP. Sorbonne Université, Paris, France. She is co-chairing with Professor Pohunek from the Charles University and University Hospital Motol, Prague, Czech Republic the European Respiratory Society Task Force on transition of paediatric patients
with interstitial lung disease to the adult care and is participating as a member at the European Respiratory Society Task Force on the ERS Guidelines on diagnosis and management of Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis.
